This documentary film shot during the last year and a half Gordon Sheppard’s life is an inspiring, courageous and harrowing examination of an artist’s life by looking at a close up of his death.  It is an unflinching look at Gordon Sheppard’s last days directed by Francine Pelletier.  Funny, moving, intelligent.

This piano work by Bruce Mather was composed in 2007 in memory of his long time friend, Gordon Sheppard.  It is a composition in sixteenth tones, for two pianos separated by a quarter tone.  (In memoriam Gordon Sheppard piano en seizième de ton, deux pianos à distance d’un quart de ton).  In memoriam Gordon Sheppard has been performed several times in Canada and Europe.  It is on the program for a concert in Montreal in January 2012.
